Beach Tote in Interweave Crochet

As pictured in Interweave Summer 2012

My first pattern to appear in Interweave Crochet is this beach tote. I completed the bag on a cold day in January, and the issue has finally appeared (available now for digital download) and will be on the news stands early June.

The tote has a circular, swirled bottom and is finished with grommets and a colorful i-cord. The i-cord is attached with cinches at top and bottom, so you can close the bag and carry it as a backpack.

Getting a byline in Interweave Crochet was at the top of my bucket list when I began submitting patterns for publication! Grab some bright yarn and start this bag . . . you'll be done in a couple of days!

  1. Just wanted to let you know that I LOVE this pattern. I made not one but THREE (well, almost done with the third) of these for back to school teacher gifts for my three children's homeroom teachers. I made one in brown, navy, light green, dark green and light blue. The second one was brights - green, pink, aqua, yellow, and white. The last one is navy on bottom and the stripes are red and white. I am going to embroider stars around the bottom part. Thanks so much! Great pattern.

  2. Thank you Kristy! Would love to see photos of your bags! My original sketch of this was in red, white and blue . . . but your idea of the embroidered stars takes it up a notch!
